I second Sam's comment though, a lot of my gear uses AAAs. The other drawback is I bet these things cost a fortune :-/

What I could really use is a small AA/AAA charger for NiCd or NiMH like the ones you plug into the wall, but powered over USB.

Problem with this approach is that they can't do AAA, or even the larger batteries due to spacing issues. My mouse takes AAA. :(
